Volunteers filled Tribute Park on Tuesday to get it ready for the summer season.
Even the youngest picked up brooms to help.

As the sun shone down on them, adults and some of Rockaway's youth spent part of their day on Tuesday cleaning Tribute Park and getting it ready for the summer. Among those taking part were students from the Scholars' Academy, MS 114 and members of the 100 Precinct Explorers.

Sunset In The Park To Be Held At Tribute Park Friends of Tribute Park is once again hosting "Sunset in the Park," the annual fundraising event for Tribute Park, which is dedicated to the 70 Rockaway residents who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The event will be held on Thursday, July 31, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rain date for Friday, August 1. Two musical groups will be performing to enhance the event: Aerial acoustics, a guitar duo of original music; and Indaculture, a homegrown Rockaway band that will entertain from the "Dragon Boat" in Jamaica Bay. Wine will be provided courtesy of On the Rocks Liquor Store and hors d'oeuvres are being catered by Ludwig's Catering. All proceeds will go toward paying off the remaining debt of $30,000 from the original park construction and ensure that there is funding for ongoing maintenance.
